England Vets Selection Policy for VHI’09

In 2009 the England team for the Veteran Home Internationals will be selected using the results of the following races:

NE / Southern Champs Burnham Beeches (HH), 22nd Feb

BOC Hampton Ridge, 28th Feb

JK Day 1 Kyloe, 11th April

JK Day 2 Detchant, Shiellow, Greensheen and Cockenheugh, 12th April

Northern Champs Graythwaite (LOC), 19th April

NE New Beechenhurst (BOK), 3rd May
Greater weight will be given to the results of  BOC and the JK. Orienteers need to compete in at least two of these races to be considered.

If competitors run up then their results will be taken into account on a minutes/k basis. M/W35s should notify the selectors that they are now veterans if they intend to continue running M/W21.

A few orienteers who are representing England at Interland may have to run up at Burnham Beeches. These results will be considered on a mins/k basis.

On occasions a competitor may be recovering from injury or illness, and know beforehand that he/she will not have a good result in a selection race. In such circumstance, the competitor should let a selector know in advance, and then his/her result in that race will not be considered.

Selectors: Jackie Hallett (BOK), Andy Hemsted (HOC, Chair), Tim Tett (SYO)
