England Vets Selection Policy for VHI’11
In 2011 the England team for the Veteran Home Internationals will be selected using the results of the following races:
Midland Champs, 20th Feb, Sheringham (NOR)
Southern Champs, 13th March, Hambleden (TVOC)
Northern Champs, 27th March, Ray Demesne (NATO)
JK Day 2, 23rd April, Tyrella South (NIOA)
JK Day 3, 24th April, Slieve Croob (NIOA)
BOC, 14th May, Wharncliffe Woods (SYO)
Orienteers are expected to compete in at least two of these races to be considered. Greater weight will be given to the results of the JK and BOC. However, in exceptional circumstances the selectors reserve the right to select a competitor who has only been able to compete in one selection race, but who has very good results in other races of a comparable stature.
Performances by England team members at Interland 2011 will also be taken into consideration, whether good or not-quite-so-good!
If competitors run up then their results will be taken into account on a minutes/k basis.
On occasions a competitor may be recovering from injury or illness, and know beforehand that he/she will not have a good result in a selection race. In such circumstance, the competitor should let a selector know in advance, and then his/her result in that race will not be considered.
In general a ‘retired’ or ‘disqualified’ will be taken to be the equivalent of a very poor run: those wishing to be selected should take every precaution to avoid mispunching in a selection race.
Selectors: Jackie Hallett (BOK), Andy Hemsted (HOC, Chair), Tim Tett (SYO)
