VHI 2015 – Selection Policy
England Vets Selection Policy for VHI 2015, Wales 3rd/4th October
In 2015 the England team for the Veteran Home Internationals will be selected using the results of the following races:
|Southern Champs/Interland||Sunday 8th Feb||White Downs (MV)|
|Midland Champs||Sunday 15th Feb||Sherbrook (WCH)|
|JK Day 2||Saturday 4th April||Ulpha Park (NWOA)|
|JK Day 3||Sunday 5th April||Bigland (NWOA)|
|British Champs||Saturday 18th April||New Beechenhurst (SWOA)|
|British Middle-Distance Champs||Sunday 10th May||Naphill & Park Wood (TVOC)|
Orienteers need to compete in at least two of these races to be considered. Greater weight will be given to the results of the JK and BOC.
If competitors run up then their results will be taken into account on a minutes/km basis. In particular, a few orienteers who are representing England at Interland will have to run up.
On occasions a competitor may be recovering from injury or illness, and know beforehand that he/she will not have a good result in a selection race. In such circumstance, the competitor should let a selector know in advance, and then his/her result in that race will not be considered.
In general a ‘retired’ or ‘disqualified’ will be taken to be the equivalent of a very poor run: those wishing to be selected should take every precaution to avoid mispunching in a selection race.
