WJHI 2016 – Junior Selection Policy
Selection for the England team for the Ward Junior Home International to be held in North East England on 8th and 9th October 2016 will be based on results in the following races:
JK Day 2 | 26th March 2016 |
JK Day 3 | 27th March 2016 |
Northern Championships | 17th April 2016 |
British Long Distance Champs | 30th April 2016 |
British Middle Distance Champs | 12th June 2016 |
The team is made up of 4 juniors from each of the following age classes; M&W 14, M&W 16, M&W 18.
M/W18’s seeking selection would be expected to run M/W18E courses at selection races. (Where provided)
(On day 2 of the JK this will be a middle distance race; on Day 3 it is a long distance race.
At the Northern Championships (17th April) the M/W18’s will run a middle distance race)
M/W16’s seeking selection would be expected to run M/W16A courses at the selection races and M/W14’s seeking selection would be expected to run M/W14A courses at the selection races.
The Selectors expect that any athlete wishing to represent England will successfully complete at least three of the above races.
Illness or Injury;
All cases of illness or injury which may affect an athlete’s ability to compete fully or at all in one of the above selection races should be notified in writing to the Selectors prior to the running of that race, clearly explaining why.
