VHI 2014 – Selection Policy
England Vets Selection Policy for VHI 2014, Forest of Dean Sept 13th/14th
In 2014 the England team for the Veteran Home Internationals will be selected using the results of the following races:
Southern Champs | Sunday 26th Jan | Star Posts (BKO) |
JK Day 2 | Saturday 19th April | Merthyr Common (WOA) |
JK Day 3 | Sunday 20th April | Llangyndydr (WOA) |
Northern Champs | Sunday 4th May | Blakeholme (SROC) |
British Champs | Saturday 31st May | Callaly (NEOA) |
Orienteers need to compete in at least two of these races to be considered. Greater weight will be given to the results of the JK and BOC.
If competitors run up then their results will be taken into account on a minutes/k basis.
On occasions a competitor may be recovering from injury or illness, and know beforehand that he/she will not have a good result in a selection race. In such circumstance, the competitor should let a selector know in advance, and then his/her result in that race will not be considered.
In general a ‘retired’ or ‘disqualified’ will be taken to be the equivalent of a very poor run: those wishing to be selected should take every precaution to avoid mispunching in a selection race.
Performances for England at Interland 2014, whether good or not-so-good, will also be taken into consideration.
Selectors: Jackie Hallett (BOK), Andy Hemsted (HOC, Chair), Tim Tett (SYO)
