SELECTION NOTICE (Revised November 2012)

English Orienteering Council

In view of the postponement of the nominated Selection race at the November Classic the England Junior Selectors have substituted the following race;

2nd December – OK Nuts Trophy at Esher Common organised by SLOW (Closing date for pre-entries 25th November)

Please note that at this race M14/W14 should enter the ‘Short Green’ course if they wish to be considered for selection for Interland 2013.

The revised Selection Notice is therefore as follows;

;

Junior Selection Policy for Interland 2013

Selection for the 2013 Interland Cup international with Belgium, NW Germany, the Netherlands and NE France to be held  in Holland on 10th March 2013 will be based on the following events;

Regional Events;

– Lancashire (PFO) Sunday 7th October 2012 *
– South Central (SOC) Sunday 4th November 2012 (Cancelled as a Selection Race)
– East Midlands (DVO) Sunday 25th November 2012
– South East (SLOW) Sunday 2nd December 2012

It is anticipated that juniors wishing to be considered for selection will successfully complete 2 of the 3 races listed.

In keeping with the objectives of the England Selectors to use this competition to provide experience, the Junior Selectors will not consider members of the Great Britain 2012-13 World Class Squad or of the Great Britain 2012-13 Talent Squad. (as listed on the British Orienteering web site in the autumn of 2012)

The Junior selectors have been asked to select 3 M/W14, 3 M/W16 and 1 M/W18.

The selectors will not include juniors in ‘bottom year’ M/W14 i.e born in 2000.

Juniors who wish to be considered for selection should run the course corresponding to their age class in 2013.

For these events juniors will be expected to run the following ‘colour coded’ courses;

M14/W14 – Light Green at PFO, SOC and DVO (25th Nov) and Short Green at SLOW (2nd December)

W16 – Green

M16 – Blue

W18 – Short Blue

M18 – Short Brown

* The selectors have noted that the event on 7th October is also the final of the Future Champions Cup (FCC) and will therefore be taking account of the results in that race for M18 and W18 as well as the results on the ‘colour coded’ courses listed above.
