SHI 2014 Selection Policy

The Senior Home International 2014 is to be hosted by Scotland in Deeside on 18-19 October (Balmoral and Forvie). The England team will comprise 9 x Men (6 open, 3 x M20) and 9 Women (6 open, 3 x W20) and be selected using the results of all UK Orienteering League events held between 1 March and 1 June. Other known form, and in particular UKOL races in early August and September, may be considered for reserve selections if needed. Sprint and urban races will be given less weight in the selection process. Potential team members are advised to draw the selectors’ attention to results in other races they feel would contribute to the selection process. If M20 or W20 competitors run in the Open class then their results will be taken into account on an mpk basis. M35 or W35 competitors are encouraged to run Open if they seek selection nevertheless their results in class will be taken into account on an mpk basis. It is likely that England will be invited to race in a wider international match during the first part of the ‘Race the Castles’ week (11-12 October – urban sprints in Edinburgh and Sterling). An England team (comprising 3 men and 3 women, and essentially be self funded) would be selected on performances in domestic urban and sprint races 28 March to 22 September and will require individuals to declare availability for selection by 15 September.
SHI Selections will be made and promulgated by 1 July.
Selectors: Martin Ward (SYO/SPOOK), Lesley Ross (OD), John Rye (RMOC, Chairman)
